I’ve just been reading about Daniel Buren and ‘The Function of the Studio’ and he decided to leave the studio setting and focus working in situ, so always site specific work allowing the installation to inspired and influenced by where it was. Versus in the studio where you conceive the project and you need to find spaces in which to reflect the object. And often these exhibtion spaces are unknown and you have to adjust to make your piece work and it got me thinking a lot about my shift, thinking more about the outside. Focusing on the influences of the external versus the internal space. I think I would always want to keep a studio and the work for this for sure come back to the studio but I do think I’m so much more inspired and present from being outside and so I need to figure out a way to make that work.
